This week in Core 4:
Happy almost Pi day! What a whirlwind week we've had... Thank you to everyone who participated in SLCs with their student-it was great to hear students take ownership of their learning, and facilitate their own conferences! I also enjoyed hearing about your home school and overall DVIA experience :) This week students taught each other about their Ancient Civilizations through round robin presentations and also completed exit tickets describing the content they understand. We also began making connections to our Ancient Civilizations and the idea of religion.
This week in Core 5:
Happy almost Pi day! What a whirlwind week we've had...Thank you to everyone who participated in SLCs with their student-it was great to hear students take ownership of their learning, and facilitate their own conferences! I also enjoyed hearing about your home school and overall DVIA experience :) This week students continued to prepare for their second in-class debate. Students will be debating the question, "Did the Reconstruction after the Civil War support the freedom of African slaves?" on Monday and Tuesday. I already see improvements in the way they are preparing for this one, so I am very excited to see how the debate goes! Students are receiving exit tickets with feedback on them today and Monday-look for them at home.
**SBAC testing begins in Core 4 and 5 next week. We know that this is only a snapshot of what our students can do at any given time, and ONE of MANY ways to show what they know. However, as a public school, we participate in these State-mandated tests. With that being said, Tyler has spend quite a bit of time coming up with a testing schedule that we believe will have the least impact on your students' learning and well-being. We also encourage you to continue providing your student with healthy, protein-packed breakfasts and providing them with similar snacks and lunches during these testing days. If you have any questions about testing, don't hesitate to reach out to us.**
