Jason and Cecilia, from Happily Family, are coming to DVIA on Wednesday, 12/17 from 9:15-10:30, to facilitate a Compassionate Communication practice session! This will be a great opportunity-you won't want to miss it!
Pizza and Spirit Day are Thursday and Friday of next week. The spirit day theme is "Wacky Winter". The Ball Pit is traveling to DV Design on Wednesday, 12/17 from 11:00-1:00. We still need many more student volunteers! Please e-mail me if your student can attend. Book Club presentations are on Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th of next week. Please look over my book club homepage and what is expected. Remember, they need some sort of product AND a separate summary. There are new rubrics on my DP to support the completion of these tasks. Project Tasks for Mesopotamia and the 1800s are also due on Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th. This is an important deadline, as we will be creating final drafts of our books and binding them to send when we return in January! We will have a Dessert potluck on Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th to celebrate a FANTASTIC first semester. Please plan to bring a homemade dessert to share-more details to come from Rita. Hi Families! This week has been busy with students showcasing their learning during POLs! Our students have made leaps and bound of progress this semester, and it really shows in their presentations. We have enjoyed hearing how reflective and thoughtful they are about their learning and experiences. Bravo everyone! Monday and Tuesday will be the last day of POLs. Thursday and Friday will be a day reserved for book club presentations, semester reflections, celebrations, and of course, pizza and spirit day. We will enjoy our last afternoon together before break with our annual dessert potluck :) Enjoy the cozy weekend weather! Hi Families! There is so much happening, I feel like my head is spinning! In both Core 4 and Core 5 we spent the week preparing and practicing for POLS. Please see updates below for all that is happening in our world:
-POLS run from 12/8-12/16. You may choose to home-school on days that your student is not presenting. On the day of your students' presentation, please have him/her here by 9:15. -Our 826LA field trip is next week! If you are attending, please make sure you have your permission slip printed and signed. See Johanna's e-mail for more info. -The ball pit is traveling to Da Vinci Design on Wednesday, 12/17 from 11:00-1:00. We will need students to volunteer to run the event throughout that time period. A signup genius will go out next week. -Project packets (1800s/Mesopotamia) are due the last day of school before winter break, which is the 18th/19th. This work, if done at home, CAN be counted as work journal samples and time! -Book Club Presentations are on the 18th and 19th! Please make sure that your student creates a visual AND a separate summary of the book to turn in. Next semester, we will be using rubrics for both of these items-rubrics are already on the book club page of my DP. -Work journals were due today. Thank you to those who turned their journals in on time! Expect feedback from me soon :) -Parent Educator report card comments are due by Monday, 12/16. Please see e-mail from me for more info. Phew-I feel out of breath just typing this. If you have any questions, or would like support, please don't hesitate to reach out! |
