EXHIBITION is on Monday/Tuesday, from 5:00-6:30! Please make sure you double check the dress code flyer and Exhibition schedule I sent in an e-mail earlier this week.
Thanksgiving Break is 11/24-11/28.
Our next parent work journal meeting is on Wednesday 11/19 at 3:15 pm. Please plan to attend-we will have a guest speaker presenting on Internet Safety. Students welcome.
Work Journal #2 ends on December 2nd.
**We need a double sided ladder about 4 ft tall to borrow, and about 10 plastic bouncy balls (like the ones we used to be able to buy from the cage in grocery stores, lol) for Exhibition. Can anyone help???
This week in Core 5:
We continued our mindfulness practice and began journaling purposefully about our practice. We have also been working diligently on our Project Tasks. If your student has not completed task #5 yet, I am concerned that he/she will fall behind. Please support your student in keeping a steady pace as we complete our tasks and prepare to bind our books. Reminder: All tasks need to be complete by December 4th/5th. Finally, we have been busy completing our ball pit, and preparing for Exhibition! It will be extremely helpful if you have continual conversations with your student about our ball pit project at home, so that their learning stays fresh in their minds. Some questions you might ask:
1. What are Human Rights, and what can you tell me about the history of Human Rights?
2. Why do you think Human Rights are important to discuss at school?
3. What is an example of a violation of Human Rights?
4. Who is an example of a defender of Human Rights?
5. How do Human Rights connect to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs?
6. What was your process in completing this project?
7. What do you hope the ball pit will accomplish in your community?
